Blog Tour – A New Spin – Day 10
Welcome to Day 10 of the blog tour to kick-off the release of my new book A New Spin on Drunkard’s Path that was recently published by C&T Publishing.
So how does this work? Between September 26, 2016 and October 7, 2016 there will be one-two blog posts each day. Visit each blog, leave a comment on the blog and you will have a chance to win a copy of the book (for USA winners it will be a hard copy of the book – for international winners it will be an electronic copy) AND a set of Marti Michell Drunkard’s Path templates that are used in the book!
It is no wonder that Marti Michell, the 2004 Silver Star Honoree at the Houston International Quilt Festival, is often introduced as a pioneer in the current quilt revival. In fact, in 1972 when Marti and her husband Richard started Yours Truly, Inc., a patchwork kit company, there was no quilt industry. Since then, she has contributed in almost every capacity. Whether she is participating as a teacher, quilter, author, publisher, manufacturer, designer, consultant, judge or quilt collector, her enthusiasm for and love of quilting is always evident.
Since 1995 the Michells have manufactured the From Marti Michell line of acrylic templates and specialty rulers for rotary cutting. The 2004 Silver Star is a prestigious “lifetime achievement” award. In 1991 she also received the first Michael Kile award given for commitment to creativity and excellence in the quilting industry. Marti lives in Atlanta, GA, but was born and raised in Iowa. She received a B.S. in Textiles and Clothing and Home Ec Journalism from Iowa State University.
Debby Brown has been a Handi Quilter educator since 2005 and has inspired quilters all around the globe. In addition to teaching at retail shop events and guilds, Debby teaches at major quilts shows nationally and internationally, including International Quilt Festival (Houston), Australasian Quilt Convention (AQC), International Quilt Show Dubai, and American Quilters Society (Lancaster, Phoenix). She recently filmed a series of DVDs about sit-down machine quilting featuring the HQ Sweet Sixteen. Debby also teaches machine quilting classes at craftsy.com
Since Debby began quilting in 1986, she has completed several thousand quilts for herself and others. When not busy teaching, she is constantly creating in her studio in upstate New York. She and her husband were just promoted to “grandma and grandpa” and are very enthusiastic about their new roles!
So – head on over to their blogs!
